Action Comic's Million Dollar Auction

The first issue of Action Comics, the 1938 comic book that introduced Superman, sold Nov. 30, 2011, for the record price of $2.16 million. The pristine comic book had been sold several times before and each time set the record for the world's most expensive comic book. It brought $86,000 in 1992 and $150,000 in 1997, then was stolen. It was found in a storage locker in April and sent to ComicConnect.com to be auctioned. A different copy of Action Comics No. 1 set the most recent previous record. That comic book, not in pristine condition, sold in 2010 for $1.5 million. Seventy-three years ago, the comic book cost 10 cents.
