Boxwood netsuke, carving of laughing Buddha
Netsukes turn up at both general and Asian auctions, shows and sales. These little tiny works of art were originally used as toggles for the cords that held boxes or bags on the sashes of robes worn by Japanese men. More than 65 sold at a James Julia auction.
