Pottery & Porcelain Marks – Banners: Banners with and without elaborate designs, such as flowers, animals, sentences, and anchors, have been used as marks since the 19th century. Still in use today, they are straight, bent, curved, rolled out as scrolls, and occasionally have pictures of animals. 19th-century banner marks often included the name of the maker and the name of the pattern. Companies like Gustafsberg in Gustafsberg, Sweden used banner marks.
