November 2007: Top Twenty

Many visitors to Kovels.com in November were searching for toys, making it one of the top twenty most searched-for categories of the month. This timely pull-toy, made in Germany around 1910, features Santa riding on a nodding mule. It sold recently at Morphy Auctions in Denver, Pennsylvania for $1,872. Santa's beard is rabbit fur, he sits on a blanket with Dresden paper trim and holds a feather sprig. His mohair-covered mule has small metal wheels attached to his hooves.

The Kovels' Top Twenty list is based on the results of hundreds of thousands of searches that took place on its website during the month of November 2007. Stoves remained at the top of the list-no surprise because it's getting chilly out there! Jewelry also stayed high on the list. Besides toys, other categories new to the top twenty list this month are furniture, cookie jars, paintings and phonograph. Elvis Presely comes and goes-but has he finally "left the building" for good?

The complete Top Twenty for November 2007 are:

People use Kovels' website and price guides for a number of reasons, the most common that they are just trying to determine the value of an item that they own. If an item is not listed on the Top Twenty list, it does not mean that it's unpopular or that there isn't a demand for it. It only means that in November there was less interest.
