March 2007 Top Ten

Kovels.com's free price list of over 600,000 prices for antiques and collectibles is visited by hundreds of thousands of people each month. This is the list of the top 10 hot spots in March 2007. Collectors and dealers look for prices of wanted items, items they are considering buying or selling, and information to use as a guide in financial matters like wills or insurance. And some just want to see old prices to learn how much their antiques have increased in value-- kind of like a Dow Jones guide to the market. This months "top" list is:

  1. Pottery and Porcelain
  2. Glass
  3. Furniture
  4. Jewelry
  5. Bottles
  6. Metals
  7. Toys
  8. Print, Pictures, Paintings, and Paper
  9. Royal Doulton
  10. World War II

Pottery, glass, and furniture are always among the major areas of interest because they are useful antiques or collectibles found in every home. But the others reflect a special interest often influenced by current news or auctions. The recent ruling against selling war medals has created a problem for dealers and a change in prices of World War II souvenirs, so it moved to number 10. The auctions of several large toy collections created extra publicity and interest in toy prices moved that category up to the 7th position.
