Hutschenreuther Porcelain: Item of the Week

Many visitors to this past week have been busily searching for information about Hutschenreuther porcelain.

This set of 9 chargers bears the Hutschenreuther Selb mark used between 1920 and 1945 and is for sale in an online antique store for $849. But you can find fine porcelain by Hutschenreuther for much less. Check out the recent prices in Kovels' Antiques and Collectibles Price List.

The Hutschenreuther porcelain company was started in 1814 by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther in the Bavarian town of Hohenburg. In 1857 his son, Lorenz, opened another porcelain company in Selb. The two companies were independent of each other and in competition until 1969, when Hutchenreuther of Hohenberg was purchased by Hutchenreuther of Selb. The resulting company is still in business today and produces dinnerware, ornaments and figurines.
