It’s time for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. They take place from July 27 to August 12. London is the first city to host modern Olympic games three times—in 1908, 1948, and 2012. This 20 by 15-inch poster advertised the 1948 London games. It was designed by Walter Herz, printed by McCorquodale & Co. Ltd., London, and sold for £488, or $767, at a Bloomsbury House auction in London. Some of the most popular Olympics memorabilia are the easiest to find—posters, mascots, patches, programs and of course, the commemorative pins.
