A belsnickle is a hooded stern-looking Saint Nicholas figure that holds a tree or branch in his folded arms. They were also called Pelz Nichol, which means "Nicholas in Fur."

A bidder with lots to spend bought this train set at a recent auction. It's an O-gauge Royal Blue Limited passenger train set, made around 1906 by Marklin, a German toy company.
