What is the purpose of this small box with hinged lid?
It has a removable tray with dividers that rests on six dividers attached to the bottom. The length is 9 inches, the depth of the bottom dividers is about 5/8". It seems as a thought for a lock was considered as holes for it were drilled in front, then two latches were screwed on (one missing). There is a brass handle on top, the screws from the handle protrude through the top. The outside bottom is not finished and has scratch marks as if it was placed on rough surfaces. I don't know the age.
