Sale Reports
Joke Political Buttons Are A Lot of Laughs
A fan of Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoons won this 1972 “Bullwinkle for President” button for $58 at a Maryland auction. It was one of many joke campaign buttons up for sale. See our article to cast your vote on funny campaign buttons.

Schoenhut Circus Toys: The Greatest Show on Earth
Ladies & gentlemen & children of all ages, in the center ring you’ll see a 7-inch Schoenhut Ring Master that sold for $546 at a New Jersey auction. We don’t clown around in our story about Schoenhut’s Humpty Dumpty Circus toys. Read all about it.

Relax in Wonderful Wicker Furniture
Summertime and the living is easy if you can recline in a wicker chaise longue like this one. It sold for just $177 at an Iowa auction. Sit back and learn more about 100-year-old wicker furniture.

What Is a Puzzle Ball?
This ivory carving with a “puzzle ball” in the center was made by a 19th-century Chinese artist. It sold for $999 at a spring Skinner auction in Boston.

Affordable Art Glass Lampshades
This Quezal iridescent lampshade lit up an Ohio auction, where it sold for $201. Lampshades are bargains compared to a lot of antique American art glass. We shed more light on the subject.

Art Pottery Jardinières and Pedestals
Roseville art pottery is on nearly every list of today’s “Top 10” collectibles. A few jardinière and pedestal sets, and some single pedestals, sold at a recent Rago Craftsman auction in New Jersey.

Editorial: Letter to Lee
Antique Gardener
Dear Lee, Have you noticed how many collectors are also gardeners?

Collector's Gallery
Minnie Figurine
Q: I’d like to learn more about my celluloid Minnie Mouse. She has been in our family for about 70 years. The black string in the back is her tail. The white string runs through her body to her moveable arms and legs. She’s about 7 3/4 inches tall. There are two paper stickers on the bottom of her shoes. The larger one says, “Minnie Mouse, Copr. 1923, 1930, by Walter E. Disney.” The smaller one says, “Inspection Passed T-C-T-M-A, Made in Japan.”

Herring Safe
Q: Employees of our city (Rome, New York) found a safe with the name Herring & Co. on the front in one of Rome’s abandoned properties. What can you tell us about it?

Silver Luster Tea Set
Q: This silver luster tea set has been in our family for generations. Any information you can give us would be appreciated.

Bradley Lamp
Q: My father-in-law found this old lamp in an abandoned house he was fixing up to sell. The lamp has three light bulbs that turn on with pull chains. The shade is glass with cutout metal over it. The base is marked “Bradley & Hubbard Mfg. Co.” around a triangle with an oil lamp inside. I thought Bradley & Hubbard made oil lamps, not electric ones.
