FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CLEVELAND  -  SEPTEMBER 2, 2010  -  The Press Club of Cleveland has chosen Terry Kovel and her late husband, Ralph, as 2010 inductees into the Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame. Terry and Ralph Kovel will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Wednesday, October 27, along with five other area journalists.

According to the Press Club’s announcement, “Terry Kovel and the late Ralph Kovel have kept collectors and dealers up-to-date for more than four decades on trends, prices, care and identification of antiques and other collectibles with over 95 books and a nationally syndicated column.”

The Kovels’ newspaper column, Kovels: Antiques and Collecting, is the longest-running U.S. syndicated column written by the original bylined author. Terry and Ralph started writing for The Cleveland Press in 1953 and the column went into syndication two years later. They have written monthly columns for several national magazines and starred in TV series on public television, Discovery Channel, and HGTV.

The Kovels have been credited by The New York Times with focusing “overwhelmingly on ordinary things for ordinary collectors, the artifacts of everyday American life.” Authors of close to 100 books, the Kovels write the annual Kovels' Antiques and Collectibles Price Guide, an essential tool for any antiques and collectibles buyer, seller or collector.

In addition to their books, which have sold over 4 million copies, the Kovels are known for their popular website, Kovels.com. Recently redesigned, the website is a treasure trove of antiques information visited by thousands of people every day. Kovels.com offers a free antiques and collectibles price guide, a free weekly ezine from Terry Kovel, a subscription newsletter, an extensive marks identification database, forums and much more.
