From a Manhattan, Kansas, reader: Your note in the January issue about the funny Hoosier cabinet ad reminded me of three bloopers I experienced in advertising my antiques business. A radio ad for a candelabra was one. The announcer said I had a “candella bra” for sale. The other two ran in my local paper after the person taking my ads assured me, “I know how to spell.” One promoted my possum belly table as a “pots and belly table,” and the other said “hot waffles,” not wassail, would be served at our Christmas sales. I didn’t pay for the ads.
