A lucky find. Early last year, a North Carolina insulator collector paid $130 for two unsorted boxes and a laundry basket full of glass insulators. The original owner of the collection had accumulated the insulators years ago. When he died, the collection went to his widow, who gave the insulators to her neighbor, who decided to sell. The new owner found an unfamiliar CD 100.2 surge insulator along with many common insulators. He did some checking and put the surge insulator up for sale. It brought $7,500, proving a little knowledge can be very valuable. (Crown Jewels, an insulator magazine, January 2014)
