Art Glass: How to Compare and Value
E-mail Print
April 2003

Art Glass: How to Compare and Value by Louise Luther (Miller's, Octopus Publishing, London, England, $27.50, c2002, 176 pages) is a clever book that uses arrows and color photographs to explain the important features of a piece of good glass. For each pictured piece of glass, Luther lists about six characteristics that add value. An example: Regarding a Wheeling Peachblow Drape pitcher made by Hobbs, Brockunier, she writes, "An added feature for collectors, the applied reeded handle of colorless glass is frosted by acid finish-work." Easy to understand and very useful.
