Many things determine the price of an antique or collectible. Prints are especially difficult to judge if you're a beginner. You must learn to recognize a print, etching, engraving, lithograph, chromolithograph, photograph, and modern copies of oil paintings, watercolors, pastels, hand-colored prints or enhanced oil paintings. Each one is in a different price range.  See Kovels' online price guide for prices of all of these types of pictures.

#5 Livermore and Knight Printssat1113 2013-09-12 14:31
I have several Livermore and Knight engravings of sailing vessels from the turn of the century. One of these is Yacht "America" black and white with a small boat in the mat area of each corner, marked copyright 1904, Providence, R. I.. These are very fine engravings and I have not been able to find out anything about them. I was able to determine that Livermore and Knight produced postcards, but could not find any fine engravings.

I have an etching of "The Mill" by Rembrandt that is signed it is about in a 10 x 10 frame bought it a yard sale for $5.00. I read that only a few prints had been made from the original and that this particular etching is one of the rarer ones but how can I find out if it is real. I know little about art and don't have the money to get an appraisal can you help me or direct me in the right direction of it's worth. Thank You, Regina H.

I have a pencil drawing signed by this artist and dated 1881. I'm not sure if it is original or not. It also has a Frank Wellington signature. It is of a man holding a snake and there are colonial and indians in the picture. Are you able to tell me anything about this picture.

Thank You,
Debbie
