Carnival Glass
E-mail Print
October 2012

Carnival glass was an inexpensive iridescent pressed glass made from about 1907 until 1925. The term "carnival glass" was a nickname earned because the glass was often given away as prizes at carnival games. Today the glass is a popular collectible, and reproductions have been made since the 1970s. Hundreds of patterns and prices are listed at Kovels' online price guide.

I have a glass bowl that was my grandmother's. It is this same kind of color,
with the same iridescence. However, it has no pressed-in design. It is a fluted
or "paneled" bowl, with a flared rim. It's about 10" or so
across--and about 4" or so deep--a nice fruit bowl size. Can that be
Carnival Glass, as well?
