Mustache cups were popular from 1850 to 1900 when the large, flowing mustache was in style. A ledge of china or silver held the hair out of the liquid in the cup. This kept the mustache tidy and also kept the mustache wax from melting. Harvey Adams and Company of Longton, Staffordshire, England made the first mustache cup about 1850.
