Marblehead Marblehead

Marblehead Pottery was founded in 1905 by Dr. J. Hall as a rehabilitative program for the patients of a Marblehead, Massachusetts, sanitarium. Marblehead patients began making art pottery in the 1920s and produced pieces that had a hard, pebbled matte finish. Two years later it was separated from the sanitarium and it continued operations until 1936. Many of the pieces were decorated with marine motifs.
