Q: I have a gravy bowl that came from an old family collection and I can’t identify it. It has three different marks on it. Please help.

A: MZ Austria is a mark used by Moritz Zdekauer on porcelains made at his Altrolau, Austria, works from 1884 to 1909. The words “Warranted 18 carat gold” indicate it was decorated with gold. The mark was used in the 20th century. The J.H.R. mark may be that of John H. Roth & Co., china importers, located in South Bend, Indiana. But some sources think Royal Innsbruck J.H.R. & Co. is the name of the company that decorated the porcelain.
