Rose Tapestry porcelain was made by the Royal Bayreuth factory of Tettau, Germany, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The surface of the porcelain was pressed against a coarse fabric while it was still damp, and the impressions remained on the finished porcelain. It looks and feels like a textured cloth. Very skillful reproductions are being made that even include a variation of the Royal Bayreuth mark, so be careful when buying. Other early twentieth-century lines made by Royal Bayreuth include floral, scenic, and portrait china; and the Sunbonnet Babies, Beach Babies, and Snow Babies series.
