Crackle Glass Crackle Glass

Crackle glass was originally made by the fifteenth-century Venetians, but most of the glass found today dates from the 1800s. The glass was heated, cooled, and refired so that many small lines appeared inside the glass. The cold causes cracks to form on the surface of the hot crackle glass, which is then reheated to smooth the surface and seal the cracks. It was made in many factories in the United States and Europe.
