Occupied Japan trademarks ? 1 Year, 5 Months ago
My husband and I collect Occupied Japan items, mainly the animals and colonial figurines, sometimes other items. However; we're use to seeing the stamp imprint of Made in Occupied Japan on these items, with either blue, black, green or red imprints. Lately I noticed another stamp, looks like a circle with a T in it, stated made in Occupied Japan. Is this really an old stamp item and made during those 7yrs in the 40's and early 50's? or is it a trademark bought and used in recent times? Can anyone help me out? My husband who's collected these for yrs. never saw this mark before and now, he suspects look alikes selling as new occupied japan items, perhaps a trademark sold as OJ and not old OJ, but new OJ. We appreciate any advice and help. thanks. PS, are there more then just one trademark for OJ? thanks again.

Hi,

The only help I can give is, apparently from my research is that Noritaké used the mark ´"Made in Occupied Japan" only in the year 1947.

I have only ever sold items of theirs and to verify the date and pattern I have sent Noritaké photos and they have very kindly then dated and told me of the pattern name – if there was one.

Maybe the manufacturers of the other items your husband has seen with "Made in Occupied Japan" and the mark that he doesn’t recognise might be able to help if you contact them.

If it is a genuine sale I am sure the seller would be happy for the back stamp to be photographed and let your husband investigate before he made a purchase.

Hope this is of some help.
