For lovers of chronograph esoterica 1 Year, 5 Months ago

Movado doesn't get a lot of love these days. Its current manifestation is a faint shadow of its former self. But in its heyday, Movado could hold its head up with the big boys, producing complicated wristwatches that competed with Longines, Omega and Zenith. Here's a watch that'll show you what Movado once was.
This is a Movado Subsea, a late version of Movado's handwound chronograph calibre 95M. It is intended to be waterproof, with screwback and round pushers. It is a supremely elegant design, with a lacquer black dial and contrasting white subdials, a tuxedo in a watch case.

Settee with two matching chairs, irregularities in spindles, carvings and arms, no nails, only pegs and glue (hand-made and hand-carved). What style is this? Era? Thank you in advance. I have more pictures if needed.

This chair is almost identical to one that I purchased from a dealer from Afganistan. It is hand made and the seat is woven with heavy twine in an open pattern. I doubt that the fabric on your chair is original. I have no idea how old it is.

I recently was told it was an indonesian colonial furniture set from the 1900 th century- worth around $500-800 at auction (3 pieces), not usually found in North American, and is not in high demand (little demand for indonesian pieces) If you google "indonesian antique furniture", the hand carvings are a dead give away. The Rolled arms are seen with colonial style furniture. I believe the information is correct, and you are correct since Inda and Afghanistan are neighboring countries. As a side note the furniture is beautifully made, and carved and the furniture pieces are great examples of an artisian's craft at their very best.

Re:How old is this desk and how much is it worth? 1 Year, 4 Months ago

I have a old office desk that I am pretty sure is an antique and would like to know if anyone can tell me more about it, such as who made it, how old is it, how much it is worth, and what kind of wood is it made of? any information would help. It has 3 drawers on one side that has the brass handles, the middle drawer underneath the center of the desk takes the old skeleton key to open it, and on the left side of the desk it has a cabinet door also with brass handle and when you open it it has a foldable wood shelf inside and underneath that door is another drawer. And on the top of the desk it has leather embedded in it. The top drawer on the right side is open inside, the 2nd drawer has slot dividers, the 3rd drawer is deep and open. The center drawer has a grooved slot in the front for pens or other items and otherwise is open. Also the picture showing on here makes the desk look shorter then it is, it is a longer then it looks in the picture. For some reason it made it look this way when I attached the photo.
