Does anyone know anything about this table style? It has been in the family since at least the early 1950's. The top has two halves, hinged in the middle.

To close it, you lift one half, slide the other to cover the top and fold the lifted half on to the bottom section. This way, the top is ½ as wide. There is a storage space under the top, accessible by lifting either half of the open top or both sections of the folded top. I was told it was a library table but I find none on the Internet of similar design. Any ideas of history or value? Thanks!
