The vases came to the auction house under familiar circumstances: A vendor in Portsmouth was cleaning out his mother’s home and found them in the attic. Like many of the most famous Chinese porcelain pieces, they are blue and white.
Q: Over twenty years ago, I received this glass vase as a gift from a friend who is now deceased. I put it away and didn’t think much about it until I started reading your magazine.
