About a year ago, there was an image on the Internet showing “before” and “after” photos of an attempt to restore a 1930 fresco picturing Jesus Christ. The restoration was considered so bad, the photos went viral. Now the city of Borja, Spain, has become a tourist attraction as people visit to see the fresco. The 81-year-old restorer has even had her own art show. The city is selling tourist merchandise picturing the distorted fresco. The money raised–more than $65,000 so far–is going to the city, the artist, and charity.
