Q: We have a piece of old sheet music titled "Au Revoir, But Not Good-bye (Soldier Boy)." The lyrics were written by Lew Brown and the music by Albert von Tilzer. The cover pictures a soldier and his girlfriend. We'd like to know something about it and what it's worth.

A: The song was published in 1917 after the United States entered World War I in April of that year. In May 1917, the Selective Service Act was passed and the draft began. The sheet music for this song was published by Broadway Music Corp. of New York City. Von Tilzer (1878-1956) began writing music in 1898 and continued until 1951. His best-known piece today is "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," written in 1908. Value of your sheet music: about $25.
