A float designed as a huge "Jazz" bowl was part of the Cleveland Museum of Art's annual Parade the Circle last week in Cleveland. The first Jazz bowls by Viktor Schreckengost are famous examples of American Art Deco design and were made in 1929 by Cowan Pottery near Cleveland. One of these bowls is in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Art. The Jazz bowl float was made by the CMA Education Department and Friends. Four children rode inside while a group of dancers in flapper dresses followed behind. An original Jazz bowl is selling at a Rago auction later this month, estimated at $40,000 to $60,000. At last, art pottery is so important it is featured in a holiday parade.
