"Fresh" Flowers Can Fool Burglars

If you plan to go away on a long trip, put a vase filled with artificial flowers near a lamp that can be seen from the street. Live flowers last only a few days, so if you can fool a burglar into thinking your flowers are fresh, the burglar will probably pass by and go to a house that appears unoccupied.
