Reader's Comment on "Collectibles Not Worth Collecting"

A reader commented about the article "10 Collectibles Not Worth Collecting Anymore" posted on our homepage.

She thinks sterling silver tea services, sets of fine china, and "decorative" silver pieces should be added to the list! I agree.

That is like saying all of the gold watches should be melted down for the
worthless paper money we are told has value. There is an important part of our
culture that needs to keep these articles. Collecting and investing aside, I'll
never be convinced that the "Crap and Barrels" buyers are on the right
path.

Sorry about the confusion. The article was about things that were going down in
price or had lost value. Silver tea services in old styles are very hard to sell
in a shop or auction for many reasons. But they still have a high value as
silver and if you need money any sterling bought years ago has a higher
melt-down value today. But have you noticed the value of silver has gone down
during the past weeks.
