Q: We have a Rosenthal china dresser box with this photograph on the cover. The box is 5 by 3 1/2 inches. It's signed under the lid, "With my best wishes" and a name we can't decipher. We would like to know the age of the box and who signed it.

A: The box pictures the former Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi; his third wife, Shahbanou Farah; and their four children. Their youngest child was born in 1970, so this picture must have been taken a few years later, perhaps in 1973 or 1974. It's signed by Ardeshir Zahedi, Iran’s ambassador to the United States from 1962 to 1966 and again from 1973 to 1979. Zahedi married the daughter of the Shah and his first wife in 1957. They divorced in 1964. Zahedi was known for giving lavish parties and was often seen with movie star Elizabeth Taylor.
