Happy Grandparents' Day! This vintage tin toy is Grandpa's New Car. It sold for $110 at a Skinner auction.
In 1978, President Jimmy Carter proclaimed that National Grandparents' Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.
Grandpa's New Car was made by Yonezawa E.T., Japanese toy company, in the 1950s. It's lithographed tin, and when you wind it up, it moves forward, splits apart into a V-shape, then comes back together again.
