August is National Golf Month in the U.S. Golf has been a popular past time since the early 20th century. Friendly sports images are often used to promote products. The clothing and hairstyles seen on labels help to tell when the label was used. Many companies "modernized" the label design by using clothes that were in fashion but kept the rest of the design. It made a familiar but modern label.
This Golf Brand label shows a woman playing golf. Her dress is typical of clothing of the early 1900s. The label is on a can of tomatoes that were packed for the Krekeler Grocery company of St. Louis before 1917. Other vegetables were packed under the same label.
