Technology has struck another toy. Incandescent light bulbs are being phased out, so the 1963 Easy-Bake Oven has been redesigned to work without the heat from the bulb. The new oven uses a different kind of heating element.

Thanks for noticing we used fazed out instead of phased out. It got by the experts in our office too. I guess bad spelling is a faze I never got over.
I grew up in a family so poor, my mom had to use an Easy-Bake oven to cook all our meals. She would start roasting our Thanksgiving turkey in July.

I got one of those ovens in 1963, when I turned 8. The magic of being able to mix a little packet with water and slide the little pan through the oven and get Brownies from a light bulb inaugurated my love for baking, as I am sure was true for so many kids. This sure brings back memories…
