Q: I have searched everywhere to identify this mark and have had no luck. Hopefully you can tell me whose it is and if it's old or new.
A: This mark was used by Retsch & Co. Porcelain Factory, a firm founded in 1884 in Wunsiedel, Bavaria, Germany. The words "echt kobalt" are German for "genuine cobalt." The company specialized in making pierced porcelain. Later it made dinnerware and other items. Retsch & Co. used several different marks. Yours is a newer mark, probably used after 1950. The company moved its headquarters to Arzberg, Germany, in 2003 and is still in business, now operating as Retsch Household World AG.
