October 2010

Vampires are popular today in books, movies, theater, music and video games. The collector who paid $4,700 for this 19th century vampire killing kit mustn't have thought fire or a shaft of sunlight was enough. The kit contains a single-shot pistol encased in an engraved ivory cross, a steel dagger blade, and a few other related items, all neatly fitted into an elephant ivory case. It sold recently at a Greg Martin auction in Irvine, California.
