Q: I've had this parrot pitcher since 1945. It's marked "St. Clement, Made in France." I hope you can tell me something about it.
A: Jacques Chambrette established a pottery in Saint-Clement, France, in 1758. Tin-glazed pottery (majolica) was made beginning in 1772. The pottery was bought by Keller and Guerin in 1892. In 1979 it became part of the Sarreguemines group. Pottery is still being made at Saint-Clement, and early pieces, including the bird pitchers, are being reproduced. The words "Made in France" indicate it was made in the 1900s. Value: $50-$100.
