Polia was a Polish immigrant, William was from the Ukraine. Polia planned to be an artist, William wanted to be a poet. Polia studied ceramics, then taught William and together they made pottery for almost 40 years.
This 4 1/4-inch vase by Polia (1909-1992) and William Pillin (1910-1985) sold at Treadway Gallery last month for $510.
Pillin pottery is becoming so popular we've added a Pillin category to our Kovels Antiques and Collectibles 2008 Price List. You can also read more about Pillin pottery in Kovels' American Collectibles 1900-2000.
