November 2007

This is the time of year to let tradition light the way. Hanukkah begins at sundown on December 4th as Jews begin to celebrate the victory of the Maccabees over the Syrian-Greek empire over 2,000 years ago by lighting candles on a menorah.

You may like the elegance and simplicity of a traditional English silver menorah such as this one, made in 1939 and sold last month by Alex Cooper Auctioneers in Towson, Maryland, for $518. Or you may prefer the striking look of this solid cast aluminum Tree of Life menorah, made in the 1960s by Don Drumm of Akron, Ohio and for sale in an online shop for $320.

See Kovels.com for more prices on menorahs.
