This grand gobbler sold for $262 recently at Belhorn Auction Services in Columbus, Ohio. In addition to gracing a Thanksgiving dinner table, it's a timely addition to a collection of the "Birds of America," a line of handpainted pottery birds made by the Stangl Pottery Company. The birds were introduced in 1940 and were produced until the 1970s. Smart collectors can keep abreast of Stangl pottery and prices by visiting Kovels.com.
