Q: Could you help me identify this porcelain figure? It's 7 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide. The blue stamped mark on the bottom is smudged. I paid $15 for the piece about five years ago at a local flea market. It was covered with soot. When I cleaned it, I discovered some damage to one of the fairy's wings and to a few flower petals and leaves.

A: Porcelain pieces like yours, with applied and detailed flower petals and leaves, sell for much more than $15 today. Even with slight damage, your piece is worth about $200. It was made in either France or Germany in the early 1900s.
