Decorative American Pottery & Whiteware

January 2005

Everyday dishes were made by many potteries in the United States in the 19th and 20th centuries. Many of the companies are relatively unknown to collectors. Decorative American Pottery & Whiteware by Klamm Wilby (Collector Books, $29.95, c2004, 288 pages) pictures hundreds of pieces and marks from more than 60 factories. Included are well-known companies like Buffalo Pottery and Homer Laughlin China Company, as well as lesser-known potteries like Warner-Keffer China Company and Lebeau Porcelaine. A good starting place for a new collector.
